Connect the Docs Medical Management was organized in 2008 to support the needs of small to medium sized community based physician organizations. Thomas Dawson

President & Chief Executive Officer

Tom Dawson has been active in the healthcare industry since 1989. He has extensive experience in managing both academic and private practice medical groups and is a frequent lecturer on medical group dynamics and practice development. He has demonstrated expertise in practice operations, physician governance, strategic planning, marketing, reimbursement and integration of ancillary services.

Prior to joining Connect the Docs, Mr. Dawson was Chief Executive Officer of CORE Orthopaedic Medical Center where he championed the development of a multi-specialty Center of Excellence. Before coming to San Diego, Mr. Dawson was the Director of Physician and Provider Services for Medtronic Sofamor Danek. In this capacity he helped surgeons nationwide analyze and develop their practices and served as an industry advocate for physician reimbursement, management education, and patient satisfaction. He has held leadership positions as both CEO and Practice Administrator for specialty and sub-specialty practices and has served on the Board of Directors for a large multi-specialty medical group.

Kathy Dawson

Chief Administrative Officer

Kathy wears many hats under the CTD corporate umbrella. She manages the CTDMSN ED Call Program, administers the CTD OB Hospitalist program, directs Physician Outreach, and other CTD programs. Ms. Dawson has held management and executive level HR roles in the music, telecommunications and healthcare fields over the course of her career, and applies those varied skills and experiences to the programs she currently directs. Ms. Dawson has volunteered for many different charity organizations including Multiple Sclerosis, AIDS, Food Insecurity, and others, loves music and film and is an avid baker/creator.

Kevin Farias

IT Specialist

​​Kevin has an impressive combination of seven years of Customer Support and IT experience. He always strives for a “service with a smile” with a can-do attitude. Kevin enjoys staying up to date with technology and always appreciates a new learning experience. He also enjoys coaching youth soccer for Vista Soccer Club. On his personal time, he enjoys photography, surfing, playing soccer and spending time with his friends and family.

David Hernandez

IT Specialist

David graduated from Palomar Community College with a Certificate of Achievement in Information Technology. He is also certified in CompTIA A+ and Network+. He brings his joy of helping others and IT knowledge to CTD. Growing up David was always the “go-to” technology guru for family and friends. He is always working to improve himself by studying for new certifications and learning new skills.

Brandon Morrow

Information Technology Director

Brandon brings extensive knowledge and experience to our IT ecosystem. He is a Coleman University graduate with a Computer Science and Computer Networking background. He is certified in Comptia A+ and Network +. Since a young age, Brandon has always had a natural understanding of technology. He likes to challenge himself in his free time by studying for new certifications and learning different things about the industry.

Valerie Tibbs

Regional Director of Management Services

Valerie has 18 years of extensive healthcare management experience in managing private practice medical groups and brings a unique, valuable A-to-Z perspective to Connect the Docs. She’s held positions in every area within a practice, from Medical Assistant to Practice Administrator and every job in between. These experiences show how a practice and its patients are affected by healthcare employees, and how employees are affected by the culture of a practice.

Prior to joining CTD, Valerie worked for the biggest Neurology Practice in San Diego County, helping them to grow from seven providers to thirty providers with several ancillary services. Valerie has established experience in developing practice protocols and guidelines that meet Joint Commission and CMS standards for new and existing service lines. Her breadth of experience and expertise includes oversight of all aspects of managed care contracting, physician recruitment, staff training/development, direct management of scheduling, billing, accounts receivable, materials management, purchasing, and human resources.
